I'm posting here under the high risk of flame bait because NONE of the
Longhorn newsgroups are related to hardware support, all of them are related
to developer support.

My question is, does anyone know how to get the nVidia nForce 2 network card
built into the popular Asus A7N8X motherboard to work with Longhorn? I get a
"Device could not start" error. This hardware works fine with XP, I can't
understand how a network card could suddenly not work in Longhorn if it's
based on XP.

Driver support always changes between alpha and beta versions of Windows.
It appears that Longhorn will have a new driver model, so it's entirely
possible that Microsoft is only including drivers that have the new model at
this point.

Longhorn is still *very* early in the development stage, so I wouldn't
necessarily count on the lack of driver support in current builds being
carried through to the final product.

Why should anyone flame you? The answer to why "x device" doesn't work
with Longhorn is because Longhorn is *alpha*. If it is seriously
important to you to use the very rough build you've got, stick in a
different video card.

Curious, is all of the driver model new, or just some parts? If just some
parts, do you know which parts? (I ask this generally, not just for the sake
of the network card problem.)

Whatever. My build didn't recognize a very common chipset that is
onboard the testbed box's m/b and I had to use a cheapo Realtek.

Longhorn at its present state is very much a trial horse and there is a
lot of hardware it will not support. Including my very vanilla Netgear
FA411 NIC.
