I know this is a tad OT but it seems ironic that MS is sending out
surveys to Linux users to find out what MS needs to do to get their
business. At the same time, they are seemingly making a malevolent
move by not supporting 2003 extensions for Unix.

There are no FP2003 server extensions for any platform!

Dear troll,

1. Why would they try to get business from people who are ALREADY using
their products?
2. Since there are no 2003 extensions for any platform, I fail to see the
malevolence. Please explain.

Stefan-
'Bliss' is a desktop background, not a screen-saver. My
kids (ages 1,1,4,6,10) get disappointed by it as they always
think they are going to be playing some 'tele-tubbies'
game....

Bliss was also available as a screensaver (early 2002). The clouds (and
their shadows) moved over the landscape. Alas, no Tele-Tubbies :(

Dear troll,
A "troll" is someone who hasn't the courtesy to post properly -
opting for a top post.
1. Why would they try to get business from people who are ALREADY
using their products?

MS is surveying Linux users to find out how they can get them back.
http://linuxtoday.com/it_management/2003122302326OSMRMS

"Microsoft has started distributing two online surveys to Linux User
Groups and Linux users in general, one asking primarily about home
computer use, the other about business use."
2. Since there are no 2003 extensions for any platform, I fail to
see the malevolence. Please explain.

The following seems to suggest that a Windows server is required to
get the full benefit of FrontPage 2003. According to the figures
that I have seen, the majority of web servers run on Unix. I
suspect that a majority of servers offering Front Page features are
also running on Linux.

"Microsoft has continued to make investments in FrontPage 2003 to
enhance the overall customer experience, based on customer feedback
and the changing role of server extensions in our overall product
offerings. As we examined our options, it became clear that the
best solution was to create a new and radically more powerful
server story—Windows SharePoint™ Services—and eliminate the need
for server extensions beginning with FrontPage 2003."

Who what or where decided that
bottom posting is "more proper" than
top posting??

just wondered...

However, FP server extensions are still available and used for FP 2003 for
those people who are NOT in a major corporate environment and do not need or
want the benefits of sharepoint.

FP 2000 and FP 2002 server extensions work just find with FP 2003 on WinXP,
Win2KPro, Win2K Server.

The end.

Thank goodness.!!

Actually I think the whole top, bottom posting "issue"
came about simply because Microsoft configured OE to top post
by default. Therefore, we must have a "bottom posting brigade"
so they can have something to "rant" about.
If OE bottom posted by default, I'm sure
there would be a "top posting brigade"

Well, Steve, as you know, top posting is the preferred method for the FP
newsgroups. ;-)

True. The problem (I could be incorrect) is that the new features of
FP 2003 seem to require a Windows server. MANY large corporations
host on Unix. IBM, Pepsi and I suspect most of the Fortune 500 run
on some flavor of Unix.

It may not be the case but it looks like some genius at MSFT made a
conscious decision that they could get organizations to switch from
Apache to windows this way.

I would also be the first to a agree that most of the anti-MS
conspiracy theories are absolute nonsense.

OK - you repeated what you already said.

Since you've obviously been under your bridge too long....
Chevy has several customers. In order to get more customers they target Ford
and Dodge customers. Get it now? Or, do you think this some kind of shady
business also?

Unix/Linux has software available that works best under those systems. Is
that malevolent?
Sharepoint is not required for FP2003.

PS - Top posting is pretty much the procedure in this group. I bottom post
in groups where that is the standard. You, obviously are unable to adapt to
your environment, troll.
