my broadband isp has a security program that it offers as a service to
its subscribers; includes fireweall, anti virus / anti spyware,
parental control, and a couple other programs; aside from that what
they are telling me is that it is incompatible with Spyware S&D,
AdAware, McCaffee, Norton, AVG, and a host of other programs and I must
install my versions if I want to use their "free" application.

boy what abuncha sucky SOB's

sorry, just had to vent that.

Is it Cox? I saw such a thing also and I believe the application suite
was from Command.

Well, I have Cox and though they do have a few free apps, most of it is
junk. Just check your email sometime. ;)

I did try their Checkit86 which is a popup stopper for IE, but then I use IE
infrequently anyway. Mostly what ISP's offer is less robust than you can get
from freeware. MHO anyway.
