Do to the amount of Gmail based posts here I thought I would pass this
along. I found this just today.

"Welcome to isnoop.net's gmail invite spooler. This page offers a place
for people with Gmail invites and those who want them to come together
with minimal effort and fuss.
Currently, we have 3 invites available to share. Thanks to the
generosity of folks like you, we've distributed 14,680 invites since
this page went up on Sep 13, 2004.

If you have invites to share, please feel free to send them to
(e-mail address removed). They will be added to the available pool immediately.
If you would like to request an invite, simply submit your email in the
following form:"

Haven't tried it, but might be worth monitoring for both invitees and
inviters. I'm sure the 'invites' available number changes quite often.
So check back.

I actually have a gmail account (not that I use it much) but what is the
point of this 'invite' stuff?

S.A.L.,

Simply a good way to work people up over a product. Make it so only
'some' people get in. Like a private club - everyone on the outside
wants in. But call it 'beta' so it doesn't look that way. My guess is
that after you use your account for a certain time, Google gives you
some serial numbers (invites) that you can give to friends and family.
This way the can control how fast the thing grows.

I'm using my account simply to upload and archive old
email/registrations/files etc. Don't plan on sending from or
advertising that address, just a 'one-way' account.
