OST - Cached mode vs Working Offline mode

Outlook 2003 and Exchange Server 2003
What's the difference in the OST file and sychronization when a person is
using cached mode vs actually working offline on a laptop?
 
What specifically do you mean by "actually working offline"? That can be done in either Cached Exchange mode or in the classic offline configuration.

I was thinking of the classic offline configuration, but upon further study I
understand the cache mode a lot better.
