Would it cause any problems to the running of XP Home if I changed the OS
Environment Variable from "Windows_NT" to "Windows XP", which seems more
appropriate?

Thanks

Jon

No, you should not change this. It is correct the way it is, as XP is part
of the NT family (it is actually Windows NT 5.1 with a fancy name).

I wouldn't. It's set that way by default, and you can be sure that
SOMETHING expects it to be set that way. If you change it, you'll
pretty surely screw something up, if not today then five months from
now when you install a program that wants to find that value. By then
you'll have forgotten what you did, and you'll never get that program
to work right.
