Orcas VPC and VS2005?

Hi,

I was very excited to see the Orcas (Sept06) release with the .net f/w 3.0
all in a handy VPC - this is the best. The only thing that I can't figure out
is exactly what is and what isn't in this version. I would have thought the
WF VS2005 (Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 Extensions for Windows® Workflow
Foundation Release Candidate 5)

so, when I download this and try to install it from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...93-48F0-4E74-B09D-B51F1D4231A4&displaylang=en

I get this error dialog:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platform Prerequisites Missing
Based on the components you selected to install, you must first install the
following
prerequisited.
* - - Windows Workflow Foundation version 3.0.4203.2

Some required prerequisites are unavailable. You will not be able to
automatically
download updates.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a workflow directory under the Microsoft.Net directory.

Is this a mismatch of the extensions that I am trying to install (v 5)? Is
there any way to use WF with this version of Orcas VPC?

TIA,
Bill

Hello Bill44077,

Have u read Installiation guide http://download.microsoft.com/downl...xtensions_for_WF_RC5_Install_Instructions.htm
?

Probably you don't use the recomended .NET 3.0 RC1 version

PS: All question relating the installiation of .NET 3.0 is more appropriate
into microsoft.public.windows.developer.wifx.general newsgroup

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try the other group you suggested but what
you say makes sense. I guess because Orcas was the Sept CTP I was thinking it
would have the latest other pieces - otherwise I'm not sure why make a VPC. I
know I wasn't clear on exactly what was included in the VPC.

Bill

You are dealing with teams at different places. It is not that a particular
piece is not installed as much as "which version" was installed. WWF is
installed on the VPC (at least most likely), but not the version that is
compatible with the download you downloaded.

Cowboy,

Makes sense - I'll probably be better off just making my own VPC with the
latest known components. Thanks!!

Bill
