Oracle Driver

I understand that I can download the Oracle.Net provider from Microsoft and
I also understand that Oracle has one as well. It would appear that if I
am using 8I version of Oracle, that I will not be able to use the ones
create by Oracle. Does the microsoft version work with 8I, I did not see
anything on the web site which identifies the installation requirements.
Anyone have any comments on that? Easy to install?

Hi Jim,

MS' Oracle provider for .net comes with .net 1.1 (vs.net 2003).
You don't need to install anything.
AFAIK it should work with 8.1.6 but 8.1.7+ is recommended.

Hi Stephen,

Yes, you do need Oracle Client, but you don't need Oracle provider for .net
(which in turn talks to oracle client)
