Optorite DD0203

I am having problems with a brand new Optorite DD0203 DVD writer. Actually
I am on my second Optorite after RMA the 1st but the 2nd unit is behaving
the same way. I use a Memorex 4x DVD+RW media and try to erase it. It
takes up to 5 minutes before Nero 6 recognizes the media in the drive then
after I tell it to erase, it says there is no media in the drive.

Seems to work OK with DVD-RW. Does anybody else have the same problem?
Which DVD+RW media works best with this Optorite?

First make sure you're using the latest firmware. I think it's 2.16 at
this point.

I use Fuji DVD+RW media without problems at all. I've re-written the
discs several times. It's actually manufactured by Ricoh Japan.

The Optorite DDO203 only does a max of 2.4x to DVD+RW media. Perhaps the
Memorex 4x DVD+RW isn't being recognized correctly by the drive's firmware.
If you have any 2.4x DVD+RW media you might want to try that and see if the
problem stays the same or goes away.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.

The Optorite DDO203 only does a max of 2.4x to DVD+RW media. Perhaps the

If you have any 2.4x DVD+RW media you might want to try that and see if the
problem stays the same or goes away.

The Optorite is incompatible with the new 4X DVD+RW media, the older 2.4X DVD+RW media from Memorex,
Philips, TDK, Imation, and others works fine. They need to release a new firmware update to be
compatible with 4x media, but since the drive is only capable of 2.4x DVD+RW burns, there is no
reason to buy the 4x media anyway. Go by the list of compatible media on Optorite's website and
don't deviate.
