YES....

if you run a p4 with no heatsink you will void your
warrenty and fry it within a few seconds (you seem
lucky ... i blew up a motherboard that way)

I beg to differ!! I have seen P4 where the heatsink was missing, for days,
and it was never fried. However, AMDs do fry is seconds (with smoke and
charring).
