I am getting a Gateway 3.2mhz HT with WinXP Pro w/SR2, it
has room for expansion so I'm thinking I would take 2 of
the 3 HD's from my existing system (going to sell) and
install into this so to keep my apps intact. Problem is,
one has the OS on it (WinXP Pro w/SR2). When I talked
the Gateway people, I would be getting the OS on a
separate disc, not one of those restore disc.
Please advise how to handle this?
Thanks,
Dlyn

You will have to reinstall applications anyway.

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for

.
Thanks for your response Shenan,
Another question; Is it possible to use my backup disc to
put my personal data on the new system?
If not, what would you suggest.
Again..TIA

Use the Files And Settings Transfer [F.A.S.T.] wizard to save your files and
setting. You will need to reinstall all applications that access the
registry. You can delete the Windows, root files, files and settings folder
from the hard drive with your old XP after installing to new computer.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
if using the web based newsgroup.

Thx Michael,
I've printed the instructions off your site as well as in
the knowledge base, It shows what kind of file it would
copy and I'm afraid that my Quicken (ver #)isn't one of
them...Again, I'm open for suggestions, will my backup
work for this?
I know it seems that I'm asking the same questions, but I
really don't want to screw this up.

Sounds like you didn't check out the most important link on my FAST page.
Gary Woodruff's F.A.S.T article will tell you how to add your Quicken info.
