I can not get my computer to operate. At start up I am receiving the message:

The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\Windows\Systems\Vmm32.VXD

Followed by: Type the name of the Windows loader (e.g.,
C:\Windows\systems\Vmm32.VXD)

What do I need to do to get the directory to pull up?
How do copy or reload this file?
When I type a:\dir or B:\dir nothing happens.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could assist me with this Issue

This is an error that happens on Win9x/ME systems, not Windows XP. Can
you give a little more information about your operating system and what
you've been doing?

You are not running Windows XP? Most VXD files are older Windows 9x/ME device
drivers.

Actually the vmm32.vxd is a complilation of of peripheral drivers used to
your specific computer. Have you removed a piece of hardware recently or has
a piece of hardware stopped functioning? Possibly reinstalling the software
for the hardware will get it to cooperate again. If not you may need to
consider a repair install of Windows.

Should have realized that this was only indigineous to pre -XP and that it
wouldn't apply to XP. When this happened to me I could overcome it by
reinstalling Win98. I ignorantly assumed it was also a problem that
manifested itself on Win XP.
