OpenSCManagerA & GEARAspiWDM errors for an Apple IPOD....

OK this may not be the right NG but I am trying to get this resolved as
fast as I can.

I have XP home SP2. I just downloaded the latest IPOD software (version
4.7) to replace my older version (4.2). 4.7 installation dies with an
error, something about connecting to service manager, with the dialogue
box titled "OpenSCManagerA Error". Then this was followed by another
dialogue box "Failed to install GEARAspiWDM service". Needless to say
I don't have 4.7, and in the process it wiped out my 4.2 as well. I am
having difficulty reinstalling 4.2. So in any case, if someone could
tell me what these two services are all about, I would certainly
appreciate it.

I would have posted to an IPOD NG if there was one. There is an IPOD
forum on the apple web site and I have asked for help there too. And
apple only provides free support for 90 days. After that, you are on
your own (thanks a lot Apple for screwing up your own software and try
to get me to pay for support).

Thanks if anyone could provide info...
