Hi all,
This is something that is occurring randomly for certain individuals
throughout the enterprise. We recently setup alert messaging on our SQL
server to show database login failures. When these people open the Word
application itself without attempting to open particular documents we get a
failed database login error on the server specifying the user who failed but
no database or specific table access. The client machine receives no
indication or error that such a database login failed or was even attempted.
If it weren't for the tracking on the SQL server we wouldn't even know this
was happening. We have attempted multiple tactics against the normal.dot
(renaming, removing, copying to another location, etc.) with no change. This
is also happening for certain individuals within excel. A reinstall of office
does the trick but we're talking a company of over 200 individuals and would
rather not attempt that if possible. Also in one case after reinstalling it
started happening again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
