Not sure whether you mean the displayed window is half size - or the
*contents* of the window only use half the window with the remainder blank.
I haven't heard of similar 'video' problems in quite a few years when
computers had much smaller memories. It usually meant Windows XP was running
out of system resources for a wide variety of reasons including
installing/running games.
Have you checked memory/page file/CPU usage with Task Manager?
It might even be your video driver, although this seems less likely.
