Aussie expat,

You need to point it towards the application yopu want to view from (MS
Paint).

* select option 'select program from a list', click OK

* scroll down to locate 'Paint' or 'Browse' to locate another image
application of your choice, hi-light

* check the box 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file',
click OK

Aussie expat,

Are you receiving an error message? I use irfanview and all images should
open. Sounds like an underlying problem. Try using the MS Paint program
located at Start > Programs > Accessories, or System Tools, I believe it's
in Accessories. If you receive an error, exactly what does that error say.

first open irfanview
next browse over to a jpg and try to open it...
if it does not open, then the jpg is corrupt.

i suspect that the jpg is corrupt because you should not have needed a 3rd
party application to open a jpg

Aussie expat,

Does the file have the extension .jpg? If not, you have to open 'Folder
Options' in the Control Panel, select the 'View' tab, uncheck 'hide
extensions for known file types', click OK. Right-click your .jpg file and
select 'rename' & add '.jpg'.
