When I open a folder I have to do a search to see whan is in it as the search
companion is on. How do get rid off the search companion so that the contents
show when I open the folder?

[Tip from David Candy]

Click Start | Run and type this command:
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
Click Ok

To fix this manually in the registry for folders, click Start | Run.
Type in regedit, click ok. Navigate to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
Set (default) to "none" (without the "s)

This problem occurs when you alter the "Drive" / "File Folders" entries
via File Types dialog.

Open a folder
Look up in the tool bar and click on "Tools"
Click on "Folder Options"
Click tab "File Types"
Select "File Folder" from list [May be prefixed by: "(NONE)"]
Select "Advanced"
Should see three actions, explore, find and open
If need to add one, select "new"
Type "open" or "explore" in the upper (action) window
Browse to WINDOWS>explorer.exe
Select "OK"
Highlight the action you want to open your folders with, and then select
"Make Default"
That should do it.
