When I double click on a file or folder, instead of opening, it automatically
goes to search. This occurred even after I switched to single click to open
files. When I right click on a file or folder, the drop down box shows
search in bold type. How can I remedy this?

I followed the instructions on the link you sent me but Search Companion
still opens and now the right button drop down box shows the word none in
bold face. Is there anything else I can try?

Search opens after editing Drives or Directories

Type in Start Run

regsvr32 /i shell32

This occurs when you use the File Types dialog to edit Drives or
Directories. You need to type the above each time you use that dialog to
edit those two types.
