opening explorer

when i open windows explorer every so often it brings up
an error message sayin that it has produced errors, then
the desk top disappears for 2 seconds then comes back on
and when i open it again it works fine. help me please
 
The issue is Internet Explorer 6 and cumulative updates from 2003. Remove IE6. Then reinstall use October 2003 Cumulative update and no other.
