Opening .eml files

Old Codger \(NM\)

OE will not open attached files with the .eml extension and neither will
IE. What should be the default program to read files with the .eml
extension?

Old Codger
 
Outlook Express.

Right click an .eml file and select Open With, browse to Outlook Express if
not listed.

Make sure that you check: Always use this program to open these files.

Always use this program to open these files
[[Specifies that the next time you open this file, or any other file having
the same file name extension, you want Windows to use the program that you
specify here.]]

I ran Dog Knox's file to restore EML defaults and OE still won't open it.

OC

Outlook Express.

OE is possibly blocking the content then. Click Tools, Options,
Security tab, deselect "Do not allow attachments to be saved.." and
"Block images and other external..".

Is it on a CD? You will have to copy it to local disk, if so. You may
need to make them read/writeable.
