Is there any short cut to open the DOS? I can open by typing cmd on the run but I would like to find out if there is any keyboard short-cut or Could I create a keyboard short-cut

Open the properties of the link to the DOS box in the start menu. You can
specify a shortcut there.

Remember, however, that this is NOT a DOS box. It looks like one, and
some DOS programs/command will work, but it is not a DOS box. XP
contains no DOS code - zero, nada, zip, the dry hump...you get the
picture.

Make a shortcut on the desktop, just find
Windows\system32\cmd.exe, right click on cmd.exe and select
"create shortcut"

There is one already in Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command
Prompt. If you right click on that, take Properties and set a Shortcut
Key you can then invoke it with that key combination
