Opening documents using right click and "Open with"

How do I add a program to the "Open with" list? The program I want is not on
the list. If I use the browser tool in the Open With dialogue box, I can
find it but it won't open, it just goes back to the "Open with" dialogue box.
I am actually trying to open a pdf file with a Serif program - it always
used to be in the "open with" list, but now it's gone.

I can open the program first and pull the pdf file in, but it takes longer
so I'm just trying to save time.

trick and I can now open the file using the "Open With" command.
