Opening attachments in MSWord

Dear Group:

When I try and open an attached file from a newsletter
distribution list, I get an Open Attachment Warning,
and "What would you like to do with this file?" Then I
select "Open it," then I get a message such as the one
below:

"Wordpad has caused an error in MSWRD 832.CNV. Wordpad
will now close. If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

Can anyone suggest to me how I can open Word attachments
which I used to be able to read in Wordpad? I have
Windows XP, so I thought it should be able to read
different versions of Microsoft Word.

If you wish to read and work with documents created with Microsoft Word,
then you should purchase and install either Microsoft Word or Works.
