Opening an Excel File

I have a question. I downloaded a pivot table from
Microsoft.com. When I opened the file, it is unreadable.
All that I can see is a bunch of garbage on a worksheet.
I read somewhere that this information needs to be
extracted. Is this true? If not, what do I need to do?

Why not post the URL where you downloaded the file and perhaps someone can
look at it and tell you what you need to do.

Also, what version of Excel are you using. (you did try to open in Excel,
correct?)
