Opening Access

I am not able to launch Access without putting in a
password. I am not launching a shortcut to a database,
just simply the Access application.

How do I remove the password protection?

Thank you.

You have probably been joined to a workgroup file (.mdw) other than the
default one. If it is needed for some of the databases you use, removing it
may cause you problems. You would use the Workgroup Administrator to adjust
this. The administrator is located in different places in different versions
of Access. The information needed can also be supplied on the command line
of the shortcut used to open Access.

My guess is that the workgroup that you are currently joined to has a
security file and has the database password set. You can get around this by
opening up Access, go to your Tools menu, Security, and Workgroup
Administrator. From there you can either join a different one or create your
own. I'm not a 100% sure on how to get out of a workgroup, so you may have
to just create your own. But you might want to check with someone first,
there's usually a reason why you're in a certain workgroup. Or check with
someone to Unset the password (Only Administrators can do that). HTH
