I am running Access 2002.

I regularly use a number of different databases for different clients, and
want to set up a seperate database from which I can open each individually,
regularly compact each database etc.

I am having difficulty understanding how to open a database in the same
instance of access, to avoid multiple instances. Ie opencurrentdatabase
opens in a new window, yet closedatabase stops my code from running at that
point.

Any tips on how to "replace" an open database in a window with another would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ian

Do you mean to close the currently running database and open a new database
in the same instance of Access? You can use the SOON utility here:

http://www.trigeminal.com/lang/1033/utility.asp?ItemID=-1#0

(SOON - Shut One Open New). However, this will close your current database
and open a new one, which isn't what I think you're looking form. AFAIK, you
can't open multiple Access database in the same instance of Access. Most
utilities that do what you're looking for simply open separate instances of
Access to perform the maintenance.
