Open workbook is invisible unless in full-screen mode!?

This is a really bizarre Excel bug...

-Problem: -
This problem occurs with only one file in particular. When selectin
this file to open, Excel will open it, *but the workbook is no
visible!*

That is, Excel is open, but it shows just the empty gray background a
if no file were open at all. Clicking on the *Window* tab at the to
confirms that, indeed, the file is open... it's just not visible.

And it's not minimized anywhere either, so far as I can tell (and I'v
checked and tested this as much as I could). And it's not hidden by th
*Hide* feature in the *Window* tab, as Hiding and Unhiding the workboo
are fruitless efforts.

The only way to view the workbook is by selecting *Full-Screen Mode* i
the *View* tab, and it suddenly displays, taking up the full screen
Which is fine, but that doesn't actually solve the problem, now doe
it? Going from *Full-Screen Mode* back to the normal view simply hide
the workbook again!

Why isn't the open workbook visible when in normal view, like all th
other files? Opening any other file in the same directory tree work
fine and acts normally, just as this problem-file did before it becam
a problem (this started happening not long after we switched thi
user's system to a thin-client).

-Background: -
The system in question is a WYSE thin-client running on Windows 200
Server Standard Edition on a terminal server. The Excel version i
Excel 2002 from MS Office XP Standard.

The Excel file that is having this problem is located in a folder on
different server, mapped to the user's G: drive on the thin client.
All the other files used in this way work perfectly normal, and just a
expected with no problems.

The catch is that this same file CAN be opened and viewed normally o
another thin-client of the same configuration. The folder that the fil
is in is protected and only a few people have access - The user wit
the problem has the same access priveleges as the other thin-clien
user who can open it without complications.

-The problem goes even further...-
BUT the same weird problem is experienced on a standalone syste
running Windows XP, except that user still can't view the file eve
when in *Full-Screen Mode* (and yet, Excel still says the file i
open... it's just not visible). So this other user can open the file
but cannot view the workbook in any way - the file simply cannot b
viewed.

So the problem with this file occurs on two different computers, wit
entirely different Operating Systems on the same Domain, one on
thin-client and one on a whole standalone computer. And this file open
normally on another thin-client and from other computers.

I have yet to try opening it from my computer (my user account doesn'
have the priveleges to the folder, but I will try logging on as th
user with the problem, as well as the administrator, but I'm going t
post this message first).

Anyone have any ideas?

Any chance that the the worksheet window is just off the visible window?

I'd try Window|Arrange|Tiled and then resize by hand.

I've seen this happen (with earlier versions of excel) when the workbook was
shared by laptop users and desktop users. (Laptops had a different display
setting that caused trouble with the "normal" people.)

It seems the most confounding problems have the most simple solutions..
and, of course, the simple solutions are often overlooked.

Thanks, Dave. That did the trick! :
