Open With

I added the wrong program to the "Open With" list of
recommended programs for a JPG file type. How can I
remove this program from the list? It now shows up as a
selection when you right-click on a JPG file pe and
select Open With, and I can't figure out how to delete it.

Either open My Computer or Windows Explorer. Right click a file
of the same type, (in your case .jpg) left click Open With, click Choose Program, and the
Open With
window will open. Select a different program of your choice, then select the Always Use
the
Selected Program option, then click the OK button. If the program you want isn't listed
in the Open With window, click the Browse button and navigate to the *.exe file for the
program and select it. The above is a quick way of changing file associations for
programs.

Thanks for the reply, however I've already done this. I
just want to remove the incorrect program from the list
of menu options that appear when you select the "Open
With" menu.

You should also be able to modify the the open with list by opening
windows explorer, then Tools | Folder Options | File Types. Scroll down
to the file extension you want to change, click on Advanced and in the
Actions box delete the open with entries you don't want.

Start - Run - Regedit.exe
Open the left pane to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\FileExts\.jpg\OpenwithList

and you should find a line for it in the right pane: delete that. Also
delete the letter that was in the Name column from the list in the
MRUList item by double clicking that and careful editing
