Open Web - How Do I?

B

~Brenda

I am using FrontPage2000. The server I am currently ftp'ing to has FP
extensions on it.

I would like to be able to take advantage of the FP extensions on that
server.

How do I open the pages as "Web pages"? When I go to "File / Open Web" what
sort of pages should I be attempting to open?
I can see folders that are there, etc, but it seems to ignore the htm and
html pages that I have at the root of the directory (doesn't see them.)

Thank you in advance, for any assistance you can provide to this newbie.

...adding to Jim's comments:
If you are FTPing, the server extensions on the host server may be corrupted
by doing so, and you'll need to have the host run a check and fix, or maybe
even re-install them.

|
| After choowing File / Open Web, you open an entire
| FrontPage Web, which is a managed space that contains Web
| pages. You don't open individual pages at this point.
|
| Once the Open Web operation completes, FrontPage will
| display the content of the Web site and then you can open
| individual pages.
|
| BTW, if you've been FTP'ing updates, you should choose
| Recalculate Hyperlinks from the Tools menu as soon as
| possible after you open the FrontPage Web.

Thank you, both Jim and Tom. I didn't realize I could corrupt server
extensions by FTPing to a server w/FrontPage extensions on it.

I have contacted the owner of the server and have asked him to check.

Right now, before hearing back from my ISP, when I try to publish, I get an
error message saying the operation requires author permission. (Do I not
have correct permissions on the server?)

Thank you,
~Brenda
