How do I set Vista Mail so it goes directly to the newsgroups when I open it
instead of the Inbox?

Create a shortcut that contains:
"c:\program files\windows mail\WinMail.exe" /news

That will open your default news account.

If you want to open a specific newsgroup, try this shortcut:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

Thanks. Is there a way I can set it so that when I select the mail icon
from IE it does the same thing?

Sorry, I have no idea how to modify the behavior of IE's mail icon.
But you could put the new shortcuts I mentioned into the Quick Launch
bar, so they would be accessible regardless of which program you were in.

That's an excellent idea. Thanks.
