Open specific recordset via external link?

Do any of you know:
Is it possible to open a specific database, a specific form, a specific tab
on the form and then a specific record set via a hyberlink in an email?

I need to open a specific tab on a specific form in a specific database
without having the database open beforehand!

Thanks...

I'm thinking probably not. While Access does provide the /cmd switch which
allows you to pass values from a command line to the application for later
use, you'd have start Access which I'm thinking is a no-no given that you'd
be submitting a URL that requests that an application be run on the person's
PC...sounds awfully malicious.

What specifically are you trying to accomlish? If the user just needs to
update something, you'd be better off going with a ASP/ASP.NET page as either
one can do easily retrieve a record from a database, display it and allow it
to be updated.

My application is a work flow. I have several steps that different users
needs to be involved in !

Step 1: user 1 create a record. when it's finish the database sent out an
email to the next user who needs to follow up on the record (step 2), when
step 2 is finish the database sent out an email to the next user who needs to
follow up on the record (step 3) etc...

Each step is accessible on different tabs in the same form. It would be very
nice if the email include a link/cmd line that the user can click on and then
be guidet directly to the relevant tab.

Does this make sense?

In that case, I'd have the database send out Task Requests with deadline
dates instead of just an email. That way you can track if a person has done
what they need to do.
