i ran sheilds up at www.grc.com and it says my computer replied to a ping
which it says helps hackers take control of your pc also says all my ports
where stealth which is good any ideas

Disable ping responses at your router. Also don't bother getting too upset
at the scare tactics used by GRC.COM as they have vested interests in making
you paranoid about your online safety. Just because someone can ping your
PC or IP address does not make your system insecure. You'd be better off
making sure you have up-to-date protection against viruses and
adware/spyware and practicing safe surfing.
