Hi
I'm haveing a problem opening a page in frontpage.
I built a disscussion group web site on my computer saved it to a zip and
loaded it on a customers computer.
Everything was working fine. then the zip went down so I saved it to a CD-RW
on my computer then transfered it to the customers computer, then it started
getting this error.
Sever Error: the sever extensions were unable to access the file E\site
name_vti_pvt\severs./ck. please check file permissions.
The problem is I cannot get to the file permissions. The server is grayed
out in the tools menue.
Can someone help me.

The discussion group is a FrontPage server extension component. This means
that the web must reside on a web server, the web server must have the
proper FrontPage extensions installed, and the pages must be accessed via
HTTP. When you copy the files to a CD, none of these are true for the files
on the CD.

This is, by definition, not that.

Forntpage was working ok from the zip drive, which was written on my
computer the same as the CD. Why would it work from a zip and not a CD.

When you record it to a CD, it automatically changes it to read only.
You need to open the cd and copy the files to a place on your hard drive
then open it in Windows Explorer and remove the read only permissions. Then
you must publish to your remote web server for it to work.
