Open file problem

Kevin Billings

First of all, 'Thanks' to those who helped me the other day. (see earlier
posts)

I know that on a peer to peer network, I can only have 10 sessions open to
one computer at a time. I have looked on our computer we are using as a
'file server' and noticed at that time we had 7 sessions (could be more or
less at different times of the day-but we only have 11 computers so we
cannot exceed the limit of 10). Those 7 sessions however had 29 open files
or directories. I was wondering if this many files open would cause the
'file server' to lock out all other users. That is the problem we are
having is that sometimes all of the people logged into the 'file server' are
locked out and we have to reboot the 'file server' for us all to log back in
and continue working.

As before, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Kevin

The limit of 10 inbound connections to resources (shared files and
printers) is for XP PRO. For XP HE, it is 5. The number of open
files does not affect the connections limit.
