Open file dialog

In Word 2002, in the Open File dialog, only when I have * in the File Name
box do I see the files in the My Documents folder. Otherwise, if I type part
of the file name, any file name, no files are shown.

Thanks, CMA

Hi CMA,

I think that if the File Name box is empty, you should be able to see
the files, however it seems that Word's behaviour when part of a file
name is in the File Name box has changed in Word 2002 (XP). Here is
the response that MVP Shauna Kelly gave a few months ago to a question
about listing files based on part of the name:

---------------------------------------------
Yes, this functionality did change in Word XP.

In the File > Open dialog, with the cursor in the File Name box, try
using * as a wildcard, then press Tab. So t* will find all
files beginning with t. *ar* will find all the files containing the
letters ar.

Hope this helps.
