Using Vista Ultimate: Is there a way to get Windows Explorer to open
displaying the C drive contents instead of the Documents folder?

In XP there was another explorer (I don't recall the extension) I could use
for this purpose. I have tried the "save folder settings" option without
success.

Thanks,
Ron

Actually this is not a Vista problem, but a default that has been in Windows since 98.
Right-click on your Windows Explorer Icon (or program start link) and choose Properties.
Then at the end of the "target" line add the following:
(a space)/n,/e,C:\
This will make the program open to the root directory (C:\) of the C drive.

Thanks, Bruce... I see you're mighty busy this afternoon... I'm catching you
in a couple of groups. I have another question perhaps you can help with.

I'm old fashioned in some ways, and used to love the original File Manager
program. Is there a goody buried somewhere, or a 3rd party program that is
similar?

Thanks,
Ron

You're welcome.

There's no remnant of of Win3.1's File Manager (if that's what you
mean) left in Vista. There are 3rd party file management utilities that
a lot of people use, a Google search for "file manager" will find
several. There are also some available via various shareware/freeware
sites:
