Open excel from a website

Hi guy's got a problem opening excel from our website set it up with
hyperlink into the file but when it opens it doesn't open the whol
document it doesn't give you any of the fuctionality buttons. :

If you save the file from the website then open it does it work? It
could be cos xl is being run inside iexplorer.

And if you want to change that behavior so that .xls files open in excel:

There's a setting in Windows that you can change.

In win98, I can do this:
Start Windows Explorer
View|Folder Options
File Types Tab
scroll down to MS Excel Worksheet
Select it
click the edit button
There's an option to "browse in same window". Uncheck it.

That's where you can toggle the "confirm open after download", too.
