Whan a email is virus attached, you should not open the email otherwise some
virus will destroy your harddisk.

In Outlook, there are email header on the top panel. When I click the
header, the body will be displayed on th bottom half. Did I open the email?
Or it only happened when I open the attachment?

you are opening the message but as long as you don't open the attachment, its safe - the preview pane can't run active content, at least as long as you aren't using Outlook 98 or a early buil of Outlook 2000.
