Open Access XP Database with Works version 5.0

David Patterson

Is it possible for Works 5.0 to open an Access XP database? Better still,
can the Access database be saved as a self executable file so it can be
opened by somebody who doesn't have Access installed? I have Office XP
Professional version. I do not have the Developers version.

Thanks.

No.

No. The only way to do this is to package your database with the
Developers version. (Or equivalent such as Sagekey, for which you
legally need the Developers version anyhow.)

You might be able to locate it on Ebay although the possibility of
fraud is significant.

No. They are very different programs.

Again, no. You must purchase the Developers version; it lets you
create an Access Runtime and distribute it free of licensing charges
(with some restrictions, see the EULA).

The answer as the others have said is no. If you simply need to view the
data though, you can view it in Excel. Open Excel, then go to File ... Open,
and change the datatype to "All Data Sources" or to "Access Databases".
Choose the table or query that you want to view and open it.
