Only saves 10% on finish movie

I've made a movie, my first attempt..works well in the preview pane...all
seems well but when i try to save the movie as a film it only saves 10% of
the movie. actual length is 23 mins but the finished one only saves 2mins
20secs.
Any reason why?
 
Just wanted to add that it stops at the same place all the time. The message
i get is that the save process has been successful but it only saves 2mins
19secs. he project file is only 2655kb. pls help.
