Only Part Of Text Displayed In Cell

U

UT

I have long text in a merged cell but on few lines of text are displayed in
the cell. I have to copy the rest of the text in another cell.

Is there certain character length restriction that doesn't display beyond
certain number of characters?

Thanks

Excel 2003 and earlier help on specifications states you can have 32767
characters in a cell but by default only 1024 of these will be visible or
printed.

Add and Alt + Enter linefeed every 100 or so characters to get more.

Note: several cells merged into one cell just results in a larger single
cell with the same limitations.

Hi,

the answer is version dependent:

2003 and earlier:
Cells can contain 1024 characters in a formula
Cells can contain 32,767 text characters but only the first 1023 will be
visible (unless you use Alt Enter to force line breaks)

2007:
Cells can contain 8192 characters in formulas
Cells can contain 32,767 text characters in cells and all can be seen and
printed without needing to use Alt Enter.
