Only icons in window

Hi all
In the taskbar/start menu and windows there is no text. There is only
icons. Also there is no outline of the window or start menu also the deskto
is black and so is the background of windows.

Notice how in the bottom left the start menu is up and it is only showing
icons. Also in the bottom left the taskbar only shows icons.

Your help is greatly appreciated thanks.
 
The background is the same color as the text, black. This will make it appear like there is no text.

Have you tried changing the background colors in Display/Appearance?
 
I cannot change the colors in the Desktop pane because i cannot see anything
only icons
no pull downs nothing. Also this happened while the computer was being
used.
