Is there a way to run SFC like the win98 version, where you can see the
files it's trying to replace and/or have the option to do so or not? The
last time I tried SFC, it messed up my display settings so bad I had to do a
system restore! Thanx.

Not the way Windows 98 performs it. XP has a database of it's
baseline/updated system components. From that database SFC
knows which files are non-compliant and need re-loading. When
you run SFC, the statistics on which and how many files are listed
in the System Event Log ( Right Click My Computer, Manage,
then expand the Event View to see the listings).
