One Hyperlink Works when another does not

I have a customer who is trying to send 2 embedded Hyperlinks through an Email.
There both Server link file paths. The Thing is one of these will work and
the other does not.
Example:

\\My-server-1\My Folder\My Sub Folder\My Sub Folder2\testbook.xls
\\My-server-1\My Folder\My Sub Folder\My Sub Folder2\My Sub Folder
3\testbook.xls

The First Link works, The Second one does not. But both work being pasted
into a address link in IE. And IE if the default for HTML settings. Any ideas
anyone?
