*ONE* command to "Scan for Hardware changes"

Hi group,

Is there *one* command to trigger the "Scan for Hardware
Changes"?

You know the one in Device Manager, right click on "My
Computer" and choose "Scan .. " etc from the drop down menu.

I need this quite often on a machine used mainly as a "Home
Server". It is not conveniently placed to do several
operations on.

I will save you a long story involving ISDN dial-up, charge
per minute, ICS, hardware router, software firewall and
more.

I *do* need it.

I found the answer myself.

You need a little utility called "Devcon" released by
Microsoft last year.
When run from a shortcut, with the proper switch, it does
scan for new hardware.

This is a pretty mediocre newsgroup isn´t it?
If you are looking for something just slightly beyond the
W2K manual, you won´t find it here.

If I don't like you, you get the manual. I only break out the "super-secret
book of tricks" for people I like.

You're absolutely right; this is a deeply mediocre group. Most people
with your ability would avoid it. They'd rather be off developing cold
fusion and antigravity devices, not dorking around with stuff like W2k.
Most of us never even learned to read, so any manual is way beyond us.
