Early days but where can I single click to access options? Some items can be
added to the Quick Access toolbar but where can I close a window (as opposed
to close Word)

One option is Office Button (the pizza!)-Close.

To access the Word Options dialog box more quickly (if that's what you're
asking), you can right-click the Quick Access Toolbar and choose Customize
Quick Access Toolbar; Word displays the Customize category of the dialog
box. Alternatively, you can make use of accelerator keys: Alt, T, O (for
Tools | Options).

In order to close a document window, you can press Ctrl+F4. If you are
closing the last open document, Word will remain running.

Good point. I should have mentioned it in my reply (even though I personally
find using the keyboard a lot quicker).

I was just looking at Popular commands in the QAT, hadn't seen the Alll
commands option. Still I would have thought the one click buttons would have
been there by default. Believe it or not, I teach IT and my students (basic)
do not use the keyboard and will be thrown by the changes when college
introduces 2007, though I know we will get used to the new screen in time.
Thanks
