Onboard audio hiss

I have an MSI KT6 Delta with C-Media onboard sound, after
reinstalling XP i am getting alot of hiss through my
creative inspire 5.1 speakers. any clues guys?

Noise is introduce via any number of sources.

Try turning down the 'system' volume and increasing the Voume on the speaker
control panel until you start to hear this noise. This will indicate when
the Creative Amplifier has started to fall over in its ability to amplify
without filtering noise. Then increase the 'system' {volume control on the
PC} volume and you should be able to find a setting where the sound is loud
with the least amount of noise.
