I could swear this question was asked a day or two ago, in the same
words. Maybe not.

Anyhoo...

You can't change that default, but you *can* configure the power
button.

Control Panel > Power > Advanced > "When I press the power button"

I don't think you can.

A workaround I used was to create a shortcut with the following
Target and placed it in the Quick Launch toolbar.

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState

Instant one click hibernation.

Good luck

I think that you can hibernate by going to the control panel.then power
options, then hibernate and enable that by OK; Then -still in power options-
go to tre advanced tab and the last one of the three should be checked to
read 'hiibernate',. Then you should be able to hibernate by using Fn+F4

Read the following article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893056

It shows you how to use the Shift button with the Shutdown button, to get
Hibernate to show on Dialog Window.

And also gives you information on how to add Hibernate to the Dialog Box as
an option always available.

What I found out is that you can simply hit 'H' on the Shutdown dialog
box...The Shift key is actually only useful to substitute one button caption
for the other.

Not that this'll save anyone a tremendous amount of time...
