You could do a size ( anything over ~ 2000k ) search and put it in date
order to see what gigs were added since install

It's probably your system restore quotas. The computer had time to do system
restore checkpoints and fill them.
Go to control panel/system
Click on "system restore" tab
Check the "settings" of the disk/s
Most users don't need more then a 2 to 3% disk usage for system restore
Adjust the slide bar accordingly

Also, system restore is most useful when used on your system disk, the disk
on which XP is installed, however some users find use for it on other disks
too.

Another thing is the system's pagefile, the file on disk in which XP stores
active memmory items it has no emmidiate use for, but which are eligable to
become needed at any time, also knows as "virtual memory". To manage the size
of your virtual memory go to control panel/system, "advanced" tab, "settings"
button in the "performance" area, "advanced" tab, "change" button under
"virtual memory" area.

You can freely disable the paging file for any disk but the system XP one,
and modify the paging file size manualy, or let windows manage it for you.
I've had best experiences with the automatic windows managment.
