Have a website, my domain name was with Kynet.com, but their service is not
great so I moved it to Names.co.uk. they are also my host so it's all in one
place. Since moving to Nasmes co every time I punch in my own URL on my Dell
PC the old Kynet comes up. I cannot punch in my own URL and get the new
website. this only happens on the Dell so it is something peculair tot hat
alone. On my laptop and my husbands we can access the new site fine.
I have cleared all cookies, done a system restore and today I noticed next
to the blue 'E' for explorer a word...'Holding'. so it seems my Dell is
holding onto a tag or connection to the disused site. how can I clear this
tag? or whatever it is? Both Kynet and Namesco have been approached and
neither have a solution, in fact they say it's not possible to keep
connecting to the old Kynet site!

Hi

1) Did you clear your old content from cache? (I am unsure if a
systemrestore would handle that). Tools->Internet Option->General->
Under browsing history hit DELETE, the next screen: Click delete for
temporary internet files.

If that doesn't help:
2) Did you check your hosts file? Maybe you added a localhost entry
(127.0.0.1) in there one day. You can find it here (on XP):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
(Make sure you can see all files like hidden files and OS files.)

3) Turn of the webserver on your old troublesome PC. Can you still reach
the old site?

Edit the Hosts and LMHosts files with Wordpad, and search for a
reference to the site and remove it; its IP address might be set to the
old site. Those files are in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc folder.
